CITY OF CONCORD DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN AND GUIDELINES

Prakash Pinto Partnerswas Principal in Charge (while with Perkins+Will) to develop a new Specific Plan for Downtown Concord. The project involved coordinating the work of market, transportation, and environmental engineers to develop a plan that could be implemented within the existing structure and fabric of the downtown. Creating a strong access to the BART station and the downtown was a critical element.

A key urban design framework element is the creation of a new green “necklace” around the downtown that links existing parks such as Todos Santos Square with new parks. These open spaces become the center of smaller neighborhood activities and recreation and focus new housing and commercial activities.
