Prakash Pinto Partnerswas part of a team for implementation planning and urban design services for the 1480-acre Presidio of San Francisco (while with Perkins+Will and Sasaki Associates), home to an unparalleled collection of natural and cultural resources. The Presidio’s 220-year history of continuous use as a military post under the flags of Spain, Usxico, and the United States left a distinctive collection of historic buildings and landscapes in a place of breathtaking beauty. The Presidio Trust hired us to carry out the intensive site analysis, assessment, study, master planning and design necessary to realize the overall goals for the Presidio.

Prakash Pinto Partnersled the team in the specific planning of the Fort Scott and Letterman Hospital areas that involved planning and design guidelines for individual development areas to the development of coordinated park-wide initiatives in areas such as trails planning, transportation management, and lighting. Models for sustainability have been tested at all scales of analysis and operations. The result is a dynamic new community and a vital urban national park that preserves and reveals its history while demonstrating leadership for the future.
